Relique is one of the most ambient pieces of Topium's music. It is the hypnotic instrumental fabric of contemplation or reflection. With jazz and disco references in melodies and trumpet lines, or to electro-house through rhythms and synthesizers, it represents the hybrid and versatile side of the duo. Hybrid, because as always, the duo uses both analog and digital electronic musical instruments, and versatile because of the eclectic and multi-instrumentalist side of the two members.

With this single, the group explores song structures as a new playground for their live shows. Moreover,, the modern treatment of the sounds of the trumpet mixed with the folk-rock sound of the electric guitar, played by the multi-instrumentalist Pierre Fortin (Galaxie, Cowboys Fringuants), is an example of the melding of styles that Topium seeks.

Finally, the group is not content with finding sound samples, but rather prefers to create and perform them, or have them played by exceptional musicians. « Relique » is an example of the duo's constant research, and demonstrates that Jérôme Dupuis-Cloutier and Jonathan Gagné have not finished mixing and interpreting styles (and that they have no shortage of tools to do so). The piece will be listened to while strolling, studying, working out, or simply on the dancefloor at a Topium show.
